From Vassar to the High Wire: The 27-Year Journey of Boston Circus Star Alexis Hedrick
In October 2025, I wrote and photographed a feature profile on Alexis Hedrick, a Boston-based circus artist specializing in aerial ropes and cyr wheel. I observed Hedrick teach and train at Esh Circus Arts in Somerville and interviewed her students, colleagues, friends, and family. After completing the piece, I pitched it to StageLync, an international performing arts publication, where it was accepted and published in March 2026.
Midwifery: A community Reborn at Home
In April of 2025, I dove deep into the untold story of home birth midwifery. I interviewed three midwives including the president and vice-president of the Massachusetts chapter of the NACPM, a home birth midwifery client, the chief midwife at Mass General, and a clinical expert in womens health. Additionally, I did extensive historical and data research on midwifery in the US which I incorporated into my article visually. With my writing I hoped to deconstruct the misconceptions of home birth midwifery while giving thoughtful, digestible, context for current affairs.
